Biography

Louie Shirase is a Los Angeles-based sculptor, painter, and 3D digital artist. As a primary practice, he uses clay to sculpt humans and animals, which he then molds and casts in various materials. Largely inspired by the relationships among subjects and objects in space, Shirase is also an observational painter who uses acrylics and oils to portray everyday things, both natural and manmade, on paper and canvas. In the digital realm, Shirase is skilled at 3D sculpting and rendering, as well as digital painting. He attended the University of Southern California, where he received a BFA from Roski School of Art and Design in 2015. Shirase was born in Santa Monica and raised in Mar Vista, CA.
